5 River St. Griswold Rubber Roof Fire Moosup

May 19, 2007
At around 1112 QV Dispatch started to receive multiple 911 calls reporting an explosion at 5 River St in Moosup. Minutes later Moosup, Central Village, Plainfield, the Atwood Hose FAST and Danielson FAST were dispatched to the above address. First arriving CAR-194(Yellen) noted fire showing from the rear of the structure. The crew from Ladder 194 stretched the 200' front bumper line to the room below, and Central Village headed to the roof. Moosup checked the room below and noticed the fire was confined to the roof overhang and front fascia. Firefighters had to wait for CL&P to cut the power to the building as they were working in close proximity to the power lines, and the room below housed all the electrical components. Once the power was killed Moosup and Central Village performed a little "truck work" removing portions of the roof and checking for any extension. Crews operated for about an hour and half before returning to service. The Plainfield FMO is investigating.*PICTURES COURTESY OF ELLA SYLVIA* Check Rob Ladd's site for some additional photos. http://www.nlcfirephotos.blogspot.com/
