At 1204 QV Dispatch put out the structure fire assignment for Canterbury bringing; Scotland, Central Village, Moosup FAST and the Plainfield Tanker as mutual aid. As units were signing on QV advised they were receiving multiple calls reporting a working garage fire attached to the house. E-193 arrived minutes later to find the same, a 2 car garage attached to 1 1/2 story wood-frame ranch with the garage well off. Car-93(Kasacek) established the "Canterbury Command" as the crew from E-193 stretched a line into the house, keeping the fire to just the garage with little to no extension into the living area. MVA WITH ENTRAPMENT, 1026 NORWICH RD PLAINFIELD

The Plainfield Fire Dept responded to this car vs. tree on Saturday Feb 02, 2008. Car 95(Hutchinson) arrived to find a Ford Explorer with heavy intrusion into the drivers area of the vehicle, and one pinned. Car 95 established Plainfield Command, and with an extensive extrication ahead of them requested a second tool from Jewett City along with LifeStar Helicopter. ET-156 established the landing zone in the parking lot of Jade Garden, while the crew from R-456 went to work on the car. Crews from Plainfield and Jewett City worked well together to remove the occupant from the vehicle by removing all four doors, rolling the dash and removing the roof. After the lengthy extrication was complete he was then transfered to the awaiting helicopter. The accident is under investigation by the Plainfield Police Dept.

Firefighters from; Gales Ferry, Sub Base, Poquonnock Bridge, Noank, Mystic, Old Mystic, Mohegan Tribe, City of New London, Center Groton and Electric Boat helped Groton City Firefighters bring this fire under control.

Tractor Trailer Rollover Exit 89 Moosup

The Moosup Fire Dept was dispatched to this tractor trailer rollover at the exit 89 off ramp from I-395 north. Firefighters arrived to find a tractor trailer hauling a load of tires overturned resting against the jersey barriers. The driver was extricated by members of the Moosup Fire Dept and transported to Backus Hospital by the Moosup Plainfield Ambulance. Firefighters held the scene awaiting a heavy duty wrecker from Mansfield. The accident is being investigated by the CT State Police

41 POND ST STRUCTURE FIRE ONECO

At around 10pm QV Dispatch received reports of a structural fire at the River Bend Campground, 41 Pond St Oneco. Sterling, Oneco, Moosup with Voluntown and Plainfield tankers were sent on the alarm. Chief 68 (Capobianco) arrived and found that the fire had already self vented thru the roof and exterior operations went underway. The building was about 125 x 30 and housed a convienence store, showers, recreational room and other amenities for campers on the site. Western Coventry and Moosup Valley assisted on-scene companies with bringing the fire undercontrol. The building was said to be a total loss, and the fire is being investigated by the Sterling FMO with assistance from the State Police Fire Marshall's Bureau.

The Moosup Fire Dept hosted a water supply drill on Sunday November 4th. The drill focused on water supply to the old Kaman Aerospace building as well as the downtown portion of Moosup. The pumps that supplied Kaman and a portion of the downtown section of Moosup have been removed so utilizing drafting sites will be one of the primary water supplies. The new draft site was located behind Station 94, in which Central Village, Oneco and Atwood Hose drafted and pumped 2,400 feet away to; Dayville's Ladder, Jewett City's Ladder, Danielson's Tower and Moosup's Ladder. South Killingly and ET-294 drafted from another site and supplied Plainfield's Tower and Sterling's Tower, while Scotland and Canterbury drafted from another site and supplied Scotlands Tower. There was over 10,000 feet of 5 inch hose layed and up wards of 9,000 gpm was flowed. The participating depts. were; Moosup, Central Village, Plainfield, Atwood Hose, Jewett City, Scotland, Canterbury, Danielson, Dayville, South Killingly, Sterling and Oneco.

At around 10:15 QV Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a house on fire at #418 Water St in Canterbury. Moments later Canterbury, Scotland, Taftville FAST, Baltic and the Lisbon Ambulance were dispatched on the alarm. E-193 arrived with heavy fire blowing out the front 2 picture windows of a 2 1/2 story wood frame dwelling. The crew from the engine made quick work of the bulk of the fire as others opened up checking for extension. The fire is being investigated by the Canterbury FMO.

At around noon time QV Dispatch received a call reporting a fire in the apartment of 9 Birchwood Terrace. Moments later the first alarm structure fire assignment was dispatched bringing; Dayville, Danielson, Williamsville, Pomfrets Tower, and later Atwood Hose for manpower. The first arriving officer noted heavy smoke showing as crews pushed there way into the apartment extinguishing the fire. It was an excellent stop made by all keeping the fire to the apartment of origin, with minor extension into the common attic. The Killingly Fire Marshalls Office is investigating.

Minutes before 0200 QV Dispatch put out the first alarm structure fire assignment for the Danielson Fire Dept bringing; Moosup L-194 FAST, Williamsville, East Brooklyn and Dayville to the scene. ET-161 secured its own water source at Broad and Potter, and an aggressive interior attack was started. The fire had already made its way to the second and third floors, as well as the roof so the evacuation signal was sounded. All crews were accounted for and master streams were set in place. The Moosup Ladder was put to work right away on the "C" side of the building so the Atwood Hose FAST team was started. After the bulk of the fire was knocked down crews re-entered the building cautiously as most of the floors were extremely spongy and burned through. Extensive overhaul and manpower was needed so Attawaugan and South Killingly were requested to the scene. The house was reported to be vacant and for sale at the time of the fire. The Killingly FMO with assistance from the State FMO are investigating.

Around 1500hrs Quinebaug Valley 911 received a call reporting an outside fire at Keiths Appliances 86 North Main St. Jewett City. Griswold and Jewett City were sent on the alarm as a Jewett City Officer arrived and found a working fire in a 2 1/2 story residential-commercial structure. The balance of the first alarm was dispatched bringing Voluntown, Lisbon, Baltic and the Taftville FAST to the scene, and Plainfield for station coverage. An aggressive interior attack was mounted but the fire had already made its way to the attic. Crews were withdrawn and defensive operations were conducted. The heat and workload were taking a toll with the onscene companies so additional manpower was requested. Laurel Hill, Occum, East Great Plains, and the Plainfield Engine from the cover assignment were sent into the scene. The Griswold Fire Marshall's Office is investigating.

Roll Over With Entrapment I-395 Plainfield

At around 12:45 QV Dispatch started to receive multiple reports of 1 overturned auto in the southbound lanes of I-395 between exits 88-87. Plainfield and Central Village were dispatched on the run as reports were that there was 1 unresponsive trapped in the auto. Car-195(Holcomb) arrived with the Plainfield rescue and established the "Plainfield Command" notifying QV that the accident was in the northbound lanes. Plainfield Command quickly called for the Moosup Heavy Rescue. Central Village was directed to shut the highway down at exit 87 as the patient was quickly extricated by Plainfield and rushed to Backus. I was told the vehicle was headed south and rolled over the guardrail into the northbound lanes. Most of the damage was on the drivers side roof as the top of the car came into contact with the guardrail. The Highway was shutdown for an extended period of time as the CSP conducted their investigation.

Plainfield, Atwood Hose, Central Village, Pomfret, Oneco, Danielson, Taftville, Community and Canterbury converged on the Moosup Little League field on one of the hottest days of the year for the Moosup Muster. All teams put up an outstanding fight at all events; Bucket Brigade, 2 1/2 inch reverse wet lay, keg on a wire water battle and the tug of war.Taftville was the overall winner taking home a $500 gift certificate to J&D Embroidery in Baltic, and Community won the sportsmanship award, a $200 dollar gift certificate also to J&D Embroidery. Thanks to the Moosup Fire Dept. for hosting the Muster, all teams who participated, all the sponsors, announcers Mike Trahan and John DonFrancisco and event coordinator Jeff Bellavance.

At around 1650hrs QV Dispatch started to receive reports of a mobile home fire at 2 Harrington Dr in Plainfield. Plainfield, Moosup, Central Village, Atwood Hose and Canterbury were sent on the first alarm, as the header was visible from miles away. Car 95(Hutchinson) arrived with the first engine and found a single wide mobile home trailer well involved, and established the Plainfield Command. ET-197 arrived as the second engine and headed to the back of the building as Moosup picked up the third due responsibilities and supplied ET-197 with a water source. All crews worked exceptionally well together as the fire was placed under control around the 30min mark. The fire is believed to have been started by unattended candles.

Greenridge posted the sale of these items about 2 weeks ago for the unbeatable price of $6,500. The set includes a; Hurst Roadrunner Combi-Tool, Honda 2 Tool Simo Pump, Honda One Tool Pump, Hurst O -150 Cutter, Hurst JL-32B Spreader, Hurst Multi-Tool Manifold With Dump, 100' of Hydraulic hose on an electric rewind reel and 2 50' sections of Hydraulic Hose. These tools were in excellent condition and the pumps started on the first pull. At around 1715hrs QV Dispatch started to receive multiple 911 calls reporting smoke and fire in Matthews Catering at 14 Putnam Rd Central Village. Moments later the first alarm structure fire was sounded bringing Central Village, Moosup, Atwood Hose and the Plainfield FAST Team. Car-197(LaPierre) was the first arriving officer establishing the "Central Village" command, and transmitted the working fire in a 2 story wood frame residential/commercial structure. Prior to the arrival of the Fire Dept a good samaritan smelled smoke, took 2 of his own powdered extinguishers, knocked in an air conditioner, and sprayed at the seat of the fire temporarily knocking it down. ET-196 and ET-297 arrived at the same time and worked together to gain access to the building. As Atwood Hose was forcing the door Central Village picked up the line and advanced into the building, knocking down what was left of the main body of fire. Plainfield High School Hosts Mock Vehicle Accident

Waterbury Line Of Duty Death

The Waterbury Fire Department has announced the Line of Duty Death of Captain John Keane of Engine 8. Captain Keane is a 13 year member of the fire department and was injured on Saturday when his Engine 8 collided with Truck 1 at the intersection of East Aurora Street and Route 73. Eight fire personnel were injured in the accident. Captain Keane was taken to Waterbury Hospital and then airlifted by the Lifestar Helicopter to Yale-New Haven Hospital with severe head injuries. He succumbed to his injuries on May 22 during the early morning hours. Firefighter Joseph Fischetti, driver of Engine 8 also received serious injuries and is in the ICU of Waterbury Hospital. The other six firefighters received various injuries, all were treated and released. Captain Keane is survived by his wife Monica, and two children. Captain Keane was the Secretary of Waterbury Firefighters Local 1339 and was very active within the Department and community.
Arrangements:Visitation: Thursday May 24, 2007 4-8PM - Waterbury City Hall, 235 Grand Street, Waterbury. A funeral mass for Captain Keane will be held on Friday May 25, 2007 10:30 AM at St. Peter and Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Road, Waterbury.

This years Annual Tri-State Firefighters Meet was held at the Brooklyn Fairgrounds off of RT.169 in Brooklyn,CT. This was the third year I have gone and to me it seemed like there was more apparatus and vendors than the previous years. The Mortlake Fire Co. provided this years vehicle extrication demo and did a fantastic job. All the apparatus shown were meticulously detailed and well designed. Congratulations to the Moosup Fire Dept. on receiving the Best Appearing Aerial, Danielson for the Best Appearing Engine and South Killingly for the Best Appearing Forestry. If there were any other missed awards please let me know.

5 River St. Griswold Rubber Roof Fire Moosup

At around 1112 QV Dispatch started to receive multiple 911 calls reporting an explosion at 5 River St in Moosup. Minutes later Moosup, Central Village, Plainfield, the Atwood Hose FAST and Danielson FAST were dispatched to the above address. First arriving CAR-194(Yellen) noted fire showing from the rear of the structure. The crew from Ladder 194 stretched the 200' front bumper line to the room below, and Central Village headed to the roof. Moosup checked the room below and noticed the fire was confined to the roof overhang and front fascia. Firefighters had to wait for CL&P to cut the power to the building as they were working in close proximity to the power lines, and the room below housed all the electrical components. Once the power was killed Moosup and Central Village performed a little "truck work" removing portions of the roof and checking for any extension. Crews operated for about an hour and half before returning to service. 601 Chesnut Hill Rd. Structure Fire Attawaugan

At around 2000 hours QV Dispatch put out the first alarm structure fire assignment for Attawaugan consisting of; 62, L-163, ET-263, 64 full, 79 to quarters, Putnam FAST and the K-B rehab. Car 62(Pepin) arrived on scene and had a 2 1/2 story wood frame unoccupied with smoke from the second floor. Once the report was given that there was an active fire on the 1st floor and basement, a 2nd alarm was transmitted bringing; T-179, T-265, W. Gloucester ET-33, and East Brooklyn's cascade. The Attawaugan service truck established a fill site at the Ballouville Dam for the incoming tankers. The fire was knocked down by crews from Attawaugan and Dayville in about 25 mins saving the structure from any further damage. The Killingly FMO is investigating.

The first arriving Danielson officer noted smoke showing from the rear of the structure. ET-161 secured it's own hydrant in front of the residence and one 1.75 handline was stretched. The fire appeared to be contained to the window sill area with no extension to the rest of the house. The Killingly FMO is investigating.

At around 1400 hrs QV started to receive reports of multiple vehicles on fire at the address 97 Cottage St. in Danielson. The initial call was just for Danielson but with the vehicle being 3 feet from the residence, it was changed to a first alarm assignment. ET-161 secured the hydrant at Cottage and High St. as the fire was quickly knocked down holding the alarm to just Danielson. There was no extension into the residence and the Killingly FMO is investigating.

At 2159 QV Dispatch started to receive multiple 911 calls reporting the house on fire at 47 Fairview Ave. in Jewett City. Jewett City and Griswold with Voluntown and Lisbon Tankers along with the Taftville Fast Team were the initial assignment. Upon the arrival of the first Jewett City Officer the house was already well involved, bringing Canterbury and Plainfield tankers to the scene. Multiple rounds of ammunition were heard exploding inside the residence as the fire was attacked from a defensive standpoint, and master stream devices were used to bring this fire under control. The homeowner said he was by his campfire, turned around and saw his house on fire. The Griswold FMO is investigating.

At about 0840 in the morning Danielson Fire with assistance from Dayville, East Brooklyn, Williamsville, Moosup Ladder 194, and the Atwood Hose FAST battled this fire at 232 Broad St. on the corner of Hawkins St. Multiple handlines were stretched as the fire was said to be located on the third floor. Crews made quick work of the blaze with some extension into the attic area. 2 cats were rescued and were quickly returned to the owner. Units held the scene for some extensive overhaul operations, and the Killingly FMO is investigating.

On Sunday morning the 4 Plainfield Departments converged to conduct some live fire training. Everyone had great time and no one got hurt, but the roof almost burned off the building. There was a lot of preparation that went into making this day successful and it paid off. Once I get the back of my helmet camera unmelted there will be some interior photos and some interior video.

I ventured off to the city for a night, but not to buff any fires. The pictures I got were because my girlfriend was very willing to let me drag her to a couple of firehouses, and while walking down Canal St we spotted the car fire. Rescue 1 was a nice piece, and theres already a door hanging on by a carabiner. They very willingly gave me a tour of the whole truck and the station. There wasn't to much that I saw fire wise, other than our Metro-North train catching fire on the way home, but it was a good time.

First arriving Car 194(Yellen) noted moderate smoke coming a second floor window on the C/D corner. Car 297(Irons) arrived seconds later and established the "Central Village Command". First arriving ET-196 pulled an 1.75 handline as 2 from Central Village followed right behind them. The fire had pretty much self extinguished prior to reaching the involved room, but required some extensive overhaul. Vehicle Accident With Ejection Area of 245 South Canterbury Rd. Canterbury

At around 1540 Canterbury Fire was dispatched to this vehicle accident with serious injuries in the area of 245 South Canterbury Rd. QV notified responding units of 1 vehicle split in half, and the occupant ejected from the vehicle. Car 93 arrived onscene establishing command, as personnel tended to the injured driver. R-593 with the Windham Medic transported the driver with neck and back pain as well as a possible femur fracture to Backus. I was told the White Camaro slid sideways across the yellow line impacting the Toyota Tundra headed north. The driver of the Toyota was not injured and refused treatment. Units held the scene while the CSP conducted their investigation.

At around 1930hrs Qv Dispatch started to receive reports of a dryer fire at 22 Putnam Rd., Coins & Suds Laundromat. Car 197(LaPierre) was the first arriving officer and reported an active fire in one of the dryer units. The fire was knocked down with a water can from ET-197, as others checked for extension.There was some fire found in the dryer vent pipe leading to the outside and that was quickly extinguished. After some investigating by the Fire Marshal, it appears the fire might been have started by some linseed oil soaked rags. Units went back into service at 2045.

At around 1955 Jewett City Fire Dept. responded to this single vehicle roll over on Lake St. off of East Main St. First arriving officers notified QV of entrapment and to add the Griswold Heavy Rescue to the assignment as well as a trauma alert at Backus. The passengers side door was popped open, but the patients arm was trapped under the car so air bags were needed to lift the vehicle off of her. After about 20mins the patient was transported ALS to Backus, and units held the scene while the CSP conducted there investigation.

Around 2040 hrs QV Dispatch began receiving multiple calls of a motor vehicle accident in the area of 94 Norwich Rd. Car 197(LaPierre) arrived on scene first to find the corrected address of 123 Norwich Rd. A quick size up of the 2 involved vehicles revealed that the passenger in the sedan was unable to free herself due to a jammed door and a possible pelvic fracture. The crew from Et-197 then cribbed the vehicle and started the extrication process. Both passenger side doors were removed and the B Post was folded flat allowing the needed access into the passenger compartment. The extrication only took about 5 mins and she was transferred into the awaiting care of R594.

Before the start of the CT Fire Officers Weekend 3 of us from Central Village ventured down to 7701 Landover Rd(Kentland Volunteer Fire Dept), in Kentland,MD. This is the second time in as many years we've gone down there. The guys were great, but as usual, we brought a white cloud with us. During the 4 days there was about 110 runs to be taken in. 11 accidents, 4 house fires(1 first due), about 8 brush fires, a lot of local fire alarms, 1 natural gas leak, 1 unfounded shooting and a slew of the usual medicals and assaults. It was kind of tough to take pictures of the incidents because the speed in which everything is done, is about 5times as fast as up here. *INCIDENT PICTURES AND A RIDE ALONG VIDEO COMING SOON*

Smurfit Stone Structure Fire Montville

Mohegan, Montville, Oakdale, Mohegan Tribe, and the Sub Base FAST battled this fire at Smurfit Stone, 125 Depot Rd. in Montville this morning. I don't have much information other than a second hand report that the fire was in a paper dryer and had extended into the cockloft area of the mill.

Elm St Structure Fire Baltic

Baltic, Occum, Franklin and the Mohegan Tribe FAST responded to this structure fire on Elm St, off of Main St, in Baltic this morning. A heavy amount of smoke was issuing from the residence upon the arrival of the first due Baltic units and 2, 1.75 handlines were stretched from ET-124. Fire was located on the first floor and knocked down while crews checked the basement. Some fire was found in the basement and knocked down while crews started overhauling. It was a good stop made by all saving the residence, and thanks again to Dana Peloso for alerting me to the past 2 house fires.

Owen Bell Park Structure Fire Dayville

The Dayville Fire Dept responded to Owen Bell Park for fire in a 3 bay maintenance garage. First arriving companies were meet with heavy fire conditions, and a plume of smoke that I could see from exit 89 in Plainfield. The fire was quickly knocked down, but as you can see the garage and its contents were a total loss. Assisting Dayville was; East Killingly, Williamsville, and Pomfret.

The Yantic Fire Engine Co#1 responded to this structure fire at 11 Pleasant St yesterday morning. (I was a little slow in getting there so these are only overhaul photos.) STONINGTON ESTATES STRUCTURE FIRE CITY OF NORWICH

The City Of Norwich was dispatched to this structure fire at 0645 this morning at Stonington Estates. Upon the arrival of the city companies heavy fire was visible from the second and third floors in the north end of the building. Truck 1 laddered the roof as companies hooked into the FD connection and started an aggressive interior attack. The fire overwhelmed the sprinkler system as it got into the attic, and then thru the roof. Shortly after a second alarm was transmitted bringing in the city volunteer dept.'s, and then I believe a third alarm for a water shuttle. A good portion of the building was destroyed by the fast moving fire. Assisting Norwich was; Taftville, Yantic, Laurel Hill, Occum, Preston City, Poquetanuck, Lisbon, East Great Plain, Mohegan Tribal FD, Mashantucket Fire, Canteen 1 and American Rehab.(sorry if I forgot a dept)

GARBAGE TRUCK FIRE CANTERBURY

Canterbury was dispatched to a garbage truck fire around 1410 on Rt 169 @ Gooseneck Hill Rd. Upon the arrival of E-193 heavy smoke was coming out of the top of the compactor section of the vehicle. A ladder was thrown to gain access to the top of the truck and spray water on the garbage. This wasn't doing much good so the operator of the truck emptied his contents out on the road so a further wet down could be done. Assisting Canterbury was Tanker 154 from Lisbon.

17 OAKRIDGE DR. STRUCTURE FIRE MORTLAKE

Mortlake, East Brooklyn Danielson ET-161, Central Village & Atwood Hose FAST teams were dispatched to a structural fire at 17 Oakridge Dr. Upon the arrival of the first Mortlake Fire Officer, a heavy amount of fire had already consumed a good portion of the structure. The fire was fought from a defensive standpoint, and a tanker shuttle was established bringing; Moosup, Plainfield, Attawaugan, Dayville, South Foster, and South Killingly. The fire spread rather quickly from the wind, destroying the home.

CHIMNEY FIRE....STRUCTURE FIRE GREEN HOLLOW RD CENTRAL VILLAGE

As Central Village was assisting Moosup with overhaul operations at their basement fire, communications advised command of the chimney fire 21 Green Hollow Rd. Central Village. Crews quickly reassembled and headed in that direction. Upon the arrival of Et-197, a heavy amount of smoke was issuing from all the windows and the front door of the building. Car 197(LaPierre) established the "Green Hollow"Command and called for Ladder 194, as a crew of 2 stretched the front pre-connect into the building. Heavy fire was visible upon entering the living room but was quickly knocked down. As the smoke lifted it was noticed that the homeowner had stacked about half a cord of wood in close proximity to the wood stove. There was minor extension into the walls but that was quickly extinguished.

BASEMENT FIRE 33 WINTHROP DR MOOSUP

Moosup, Central Village, Atwood Hose FAST, Tower 195, ET-295, HT 195 from Plainfield were alerted to the structural fire at 33 Winthrop Dr. off Gendron Rd at 1800 hrs. As units were signing on communications advised responding apparatus of the confirmed basement fire. Ladder 194 arrived on scene to find heavy smoke coming from the single story ranch. Car294(Bellavance) established the "Winthrop Dr" Command as Captain Rick Pye, with other Moosup firefighters, stretched the 200' front pre-connect off Ladder 194 to the rear of the house where they were meet with heavy fire conditions from the bulkhead. The fire coming out of the bulkhead was knocked down, and an aggressive interior attack was started while a crew of 2 from Central Village made there way into the first floor, looking for the basement door. As Central Village was forcing the basement door the Moosup crew had confirmed the fire was knocked down, and was now checking for extension. Because of the aggressive interior attack forced by Captain Rick Pye and his crew, the only damage done was to the basement with moderate smoke damage on the second floor. Command held companies 94 & 97 for overhaul before being sent to another structure fire on Green Hollow(Thanks to Ella Sylvia for the pictures)

The Plainfield Fire Dept., along with the heavy rescue from Moosup, responded to this truck vs. pole at around 0615 this morning on Millbrook Rd. off of Rt. 12. As firefighters arrived they began stabilization efforts and patient care. The drivers side door and roof were removed to gain access to the patient, and a dash roll was attempted to try and free the drivers legs, but the truck cab was no longer attached to the frame, eliminating that option. After some spreading and prying from both dept.'s, both the drivers legs were freed and he was speedily transferred to the awaiting ambulance with no obvious injuries.

92 Day St. Structure Fire East Brooklyn

East Brooklyn and Mortlake Fire Depts. were dispatched to 92 Day St. for smoke in the building. The first arriving officer found a moderate amount of smoke emitting from the single family ranch structure. Williamsville was added to the assignment as the FAST team, and the alarm was upgraded bringing; Danielson, Atwood Hose, and Dayville. An aggressive interior attack was mounted, but the fire gained the upper hand as it broke thru the roof. The evacuation signal was sounded, and master streams went into operation. The structure was a complete loss.

Metal Scrap Yard Fire City of Willimantic

The City of Willimantic responded for this scrap yard fire in the area of Milk St. The fire had a pretty good head start upon the arrival of Engine 201 and master stream operations went into effect. The pictures are roughly 1 hr 15 min. into the fire.

568 West Thames St Structure Fire EGPFD

February 07,2007 At 0528 hours the East Great Plain Fire Dept. was dispatched to a structure fire at 568 West Thames St. Upon the arrival of car 5 the front of the structure was well involved and a second alarm was transmitted bringing; Mohegan Tribe FAST, Mohegan Fire Co., City Of Norwich Squad A and Engine 3, along with the canteen. I was told 2 residents were transported, 1 to Bridgeport and 1 to Backus. The structure is completely destroyed.

Canterbury and Mortlake responded at 2316 to 62 Wauregan Rd for a structure fire. Upon the arrival of Chief 93, the fire was thru the roof. 2, 1.75 handlines were placed into service as a second alarm was transmitted, bringing; Plainfield, Atwood Hose, and the Moosup FAST. Additional water was requested adding; Lisbon, Central Village, Scotland and other area departments. The fire was quickly brought under control, and the last Canterbury unit cleared around 0245

84 Talman St Structure Fire City Of Norwich

The City Of Norwich responded to 84 Talman St for the reported structural fire. Upon the arrival of the first due company, heavy smoke was emitting from structure. Companies put numerous handlines into service, and started to enter the structure. A mayday was transmitted after a firefighter fell into the basement from the first floor, an evacuation was ordered, and a search for the missing firefighter began. He was located quickly and removed from the building. The Cape Verdean, was a total loss.
