41 POND ST STRUCTURE FIRE ONECO

At around 10pm QV Dispatch received reports of a structural fire at the River Bend Campground, 41 Pond St Oneco. Sterling, Oneco, Moosup with Voluntown and Plainfield tankers were sent on the alarm. Chief 68 (Capobianco) arrived and found that the fire had already self vented thru the roof and exterior operations went underway. The building was about 125 x 30 and housed a convienence store, showers, recreational room and other amenities for campers on the site. Western Coventry and Moosup Valley assisted on-scene companies with bringing the fire undercontrol. The building was said to be a total loss, and the fire is being investigated by the Sterling FMO with assistance from the State Police Fire Marshall's Bureau.

KAMAN DRILL MOOSUP

The Moosup Fire Dept hosted a water supply drill on Sunday November 4th. The drill focused on water supply to the old Kaman Aerospace building as well as the downtown portion of Moosup. The pumps that supplied Kaman and a portion of the downtown section of Moosup have been removed so utilizing drafting sites will be one of the primary water supplies. The new draft site was located behind Station 94, in which Central Village, Oneco and Atwood Hose drafted and pumped 2,400 feet away to; Dayville's Ladder, Jewett City's Ladder, Danielson's Tower and Moosup's Ladder. South Killingly and ET-294 drafted from another site and supplied Plainfield's Tower and Sterling's Tower, while Scotland and Canterbury drafted from another site and supplied Scotlands Tower. There was over 10,000 feet of 5 inch hose layed and up wards of 9,000 gpm was flowed. The participating depts. were; Moosup, Central Village, Plainfield, Atwood Hose, Jewett City, Scotland, Canterbury, Danielson, Dayville, South Killingly, Sterling and Oneco.









418 WATER ST. STRUCTURE FIRE CANTERBURY

November 06, 2007
At around 10:15 QV Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a house on fire at #418 Water St in Canterbury. Moments later Canterbury, Scotland, Taftville FAST, Baltic and the Lisbon Ambulance were dispatched on the alarm. E-193 arrived with heavy fire blowing out the front 2 picture windows of a 2 1/2 story wood frame dwelling. The crew from the engine made quick work of the bulk of the fire as others opened up checking for extension. The fire is being investigated by the Canterbury FMO.
